Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) passed and signed by President Benigno C. Aquino III

Starting November 1 2012, the Philippine authorities will be implementing the “Anti-Cybercrime Law”, to prosecute the hackers, cyber sex exhibitionists, plagiarizers, fraudsters, forgers, and those committing libel online. This is a big step in preventing the increasing cyber crime in the Philippines, and we are yet to know the real impact of this passed law to common netizens and those high profile figures like the showbiz artists that loves to throw flaming words at each other, etc. Some fear that this law is more of a “zipper” to the people, preventing them freedom online.
