Mycoheal Oral Gel

Description:
Mycoheal Oral gel contains a bactericidal and a broad spectrum fungicidal agent, miconazole.

Pharmacology:
Miconazole posseses an antifungal activity against the common dermatophytes and yeast, as well as an antibacterial activity against certain gram-positive bacilli and cocci.

Indications:
Curative and prophylatic treatment of candidiasis of the oropharyngeal cavity and the gastrointestinal tract.

Contraindications:
Mycoheal Oral gel is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to miconazole.
Also contraindicated in liver dysfunction.

Side effects:
Gastointestinal discomfort such as nausea, vomiting, and with long term treatment diarrhea, arely allergic reactions, isolated reports of hepatitis.

Precautions:
If the concomitant use with anticoagulants is faced, the anticoagulant effect should be carefully monitored and titrated.
*Pregnancy and lactation:
Potential hazards of prescribing this drug during pregnancy and lactation should always be weighed against the expected therapeutic benefits.

Dosage and administration:
Infants: 1/4 measuring spoon of gel, four times daily (after meals).
Children and adults: 1/2 measuring spoon of gel four times a day (after meals).
*Gel should not be swallowed immediately, it should be spread in the mouth and kept there as long as possible, treatment continued for 48 hours after lesions have been cured.

Presentations:
Tubes of 40 grams, each gram contains 20mg miconazole.
